The trip starts with a wednesdaynight at the Cairns Colonial Club, where you'll be picked up the next morning at 8:30 am to start your amazing live-aboard! Sleek and spacious, the 'Spirit of Freedom' offers the best in live-aboard dive cruising to the Coral Sea and Ribbon Reefs. The 4 Day Coral Sea tour begins with a low level flight from Cairns along the coastline and over the reef to Lizard Island, to meet the Spirit of Freedom. The first day will see you diving the very top of the Ribbon Reefs, before overnight travel out to Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea. Two days are spent diving the spectacular walls of Osprey Reef, an old volcanic atoll lying 220 km off the coast. Renowned for its spectacular 1000 metre walls, Osprey Reef also offers massive soft corals, amazing shark action, and exceptional visibility. 'North Horn' at the tip of Osprey is a site where grey reef sharks, silvertips, and the occasional oceanic congregate. Here you can also experience a close encounter with the Spirit of Freedom shark attraction dive. The last day is spent at Ribbon Reef Number 3, or if the weather permits, Bougainville Reef, to the south of Osprey Reef. Overnight travel on the last night, returns you to Cairns, where we will stay another night at the Cairns Colonial Club.

Truk Lagoon, Micronesia Trip 2011 - Dates: October 7th - 17th
Chuuk Atoll, (also Known as Truk) in the Caroline Islands is infamous for its giant lagoon. The lagoon is the final resting place for more than 100 ships, planes and submarines - the legacy of a fierce World War II battle between the Imperial Japanese Fleet and Allied carrier planes. The lagoon has been declared an underwater museum. Souvenir taking of relics from the area are prohibited by law. Nowhere else in the world are there so many wrecks in close proximity, situated in shallow clear water. Many of the wrecks are visible while snorkelling and there are many on-shore wartime locations to visit.
The majority of the wrecks lie off DubIon, Eten, Fefan and Uman Islands and represent the largest naval loss in history. Their cargoes of tanks, trucks, airplanes, mines, bombs, machine gun bullets and thousands of other artefacts including beautiful china are there still to be explored. The warm, tropical waters and prolific marine life has transformed the wrecks into artificial reefs and beautiful coral gardens.
The main island of Weno (formerly Moen) is the capital and commercial centre. For the best views of the lagoon, climb the old Sapuk Lighthouse, built during the Japanese occupation. There are many fascinating and historic sites to visit in and around Chuuk. Snorkel or scuba dive in this maritime museum, spend the night on a small island with experienced local guides and simply relax on a sandy beach to get a view of life in Chuuk.
